Visit ACT-LA’s Planning for an Equitable Los Angeles website to learn more about community planning and to download a toolkit on equitable community planning.
The City of LA has plans to update its 35 Community Plans every 6 years, with some of these plans more than 17 years old and in dire need of updating to reflect a growing and urbanized Los Angeles. Each updated Community Plan will require extensive community input, particularly from low-income, disadvantaged community members who have systematically been left out of the planning process.
ACT-LA is actively engaged in the Community Plan update process and is supporting our coalition members who work in or represent residents in the respective Community Plan Areas going through updates. We are also providing resources to organizations who are concerned about equity in land use planning and development within their neighborhoods on how to effectively advocate for equitable community development. If you want more information about how to plug in, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
